The airports of Recife, Petrolina (PE), Fortaleza and Juazeiro (CE), Natal (RN), Joao Pessoa and Campina Grande (PB), which are part of the Regional Superintendent of the Northeast, are since last Monday (01/10) participating in the campaign Pink October.

The campaign, which gets its name from the symbol of the fight against breast cancer (pink tie), is now celebrated in many places. It arose in the United States in the 90s and since then is being spread around the world.

In October, several monuments, buildings and other attractions also receive light pink, alluding to the cause.

Employees of Infraero distribute flyers with information and alerts to passengers and placards are posted at the airports. There are also practical demonstrations of how to do the self-exam for breast cancer detection, identifying early symptoms and the steps to be taken to the start of treatment.

The initiative aims to make tracking monographic in three quarters of the population at risk, about 1.7 million women (between 45 and 69 years), within three years.
