Protest former employees of Webjet in Salvador airport

Approximately 50 employees laid off from the airline Webjet, after purchase by Gol, gathered in the lobby of Luís Eduardo Magalhães International Airport in Salvador for a peaceful protest.

According to the participants of the protest, about 150 employees were dismissed from Webjet in Bahia after the announcement that the company would end its activities.

The demonstration began at 14:30 on Monday (26) and lasted about an hour.

Participants made use of whistles, masks and placards denouncing the dismissal of 40 pilots, 90 commissioners, 17 mechanics and nine support staff.

With the purchase of the company made ​​by Gol, Webjet will turn off approximately 850 employees between flight crew, maintenance crew and commercial aircraft across the country.

Gol was purchased Webjet in October 2011, for R$ 70 million, and assumed the company’s debts, which were about $ 200 million.
