Manaus airport is used as a route of trafficking of women

A survey conducted by the National University of Brasilia (UNB) pointed the Eduardo Gomes International Airport, in Manaus, as a possible route for the trafficking of adult and adolescents women. Victims are taken mainly for French Guiana, Suriname and the Netherlands.

The matter will be discussed Wednesday at a public hearing in the City Hall of Manaus.
The topic to be discussed includes a calendar of activities for Women’s Week, which also includes a leafleting in the central region of Manaus on domestic violence and the Maria da Penha Law.

The hearing aims to gather the organs connected to network protection and investigation to discuss cases on record trafficking of women in the capital of Amazonas.

In the discussion, it generates also support the campaign to combat human trafficking, which extends assistance service complaints about this market, which also affects children and homosexuals.
