Brasilia airport will be ready by the World Cup

The works in Juscelino Kubitschek International Airport in Brasilia, should be completed by the World Cup 2014, according to a guarantee given on Tuesday (16) by the consortium airport Inframérica Consortium. The project will increase the airport’s capacity from 16 million passengers to 41 million.

The work was inspected by a group of parliamentarians from the Tourism Commission of the Chamber of Deputies. According to information from the manager of the airport Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 will be renovated and another will be built, and will be increased from 13 to 28 the number of access bridges to airplanes.

During the Confederations Cup, the routine works will not change because there is only one game and most of the tickets have already been sold to residents of Brasilia.

In the first half, the commission will also visit the airports, stadiums and analyze urban mobility of the other five venues in the Confederations Cup.

Investments in Brasilia airport R$ 2.85 billion, and by 2014 will be invested over R$ 750 million.
