Fall in the price of airline tickets decelerates IPCA

According to the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), the prices of airline tickets fell by 16.43% in March this year. The index is one of the negative influences by item on inflation, measured by the National Consumer Price Index (IPCA).

The action had an impact of -0.1 percentage point to the rate of IPCA, which was 0.47%. The airline tickets had already shown a decline of 9.98% in February, which pulled the deflation of 0.09% in the transport sector last month, which showed an increase of 0.81% in the previous month.

Gasoline, after an increase of 4.10% in February, also slowed high dropping to 0.09% in March, after the adjustment of 6.6% in the price of a liter in January 2013.

In land transport, as fares on interstate buses and urban, also fell, from -0.97% in March and 0.35%, respectively. The price of new cars also showed a slowdown to 0.35%.
